Day 1 - The Cosmic Christ of Colossians!

Welcome to Day 1! We're going to work our way through this wonderful letter of the New Testament which has incredible richness in theological depth and is likely the loftiest description of Jesus in the New Testament! It will take a couple days to introduce the context of this letter and the date and reason for its writing, so today we're just focusing on a broad introduction and on several verses from chapter 1:

He (Jesus) is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.
For by him all things were created:
things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible,
whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities;
all things were created by him and for him.
He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.
Colossians 1:15-17

Read through those verses several times and let their witness to Jesus roll around in your mind and heart. And then here's the video:

And here's a great song that we sing at church which is a great way to start 2021 - What a Beautiful Name.

  1. Thank you for doing this, Eric. I confess I’ve never given much thought to Colossians, yet I’ve already highlighted a couple of points in chapter 1 this morning. I look forward to the series.

    1. Thanks, Lea! Yes, it's not really an obscure letter, but one that most people don't pay much attention to! I'm looking forward to getting into it more, and glad you're along in reading through it! Take care!!
